United States Air Force & Canadian Military

Regarding the U.N. Tour to Iran in 1988, members of the United States Air Force played a crucial role in transporting Canadian Military personnel from various parts of Canada to the U.S. Air Force Base in Incirlik, Turkey.  At which point this air force base quoting in the base history from the link below, “In 1988, as an attempt to enforce a cease-fire between the warring countries of Iran and Iraq, Incirlik AB served as a staging ground to transport a United Nations peacekeeping force into both states referred to as Operation POST ROAD.  A U.S. Air Force C-5 Galaxy transported a 500 personnel force from Canada along with their vehicles and support equipment.”  From this base, to Iran and Iraq, Canadian C-130 Hercs transported our equipment and military personnel to these two nations.  The U.N. Peacekeeping mission to Iraq and Iran was successful due to the contributions of Canadian Military personnel and others on the ground, as well as the tremendous support provided by Incirlik Air Base.
